Steven C. Grubb, a 1976 honors graduate of Cal-state, holds both B.A. and M.A. degrees in organ performance. This particular performance will show-case music for the organ from France by I.M. Clerambault, from Germany with selections by Bach and Telemann, from Spain featuring "Differencias sabra la Gallarda Milanesa" by Cabezon, and from England with music by Croft, Byrd, Heron and Bennett. A bonus for Mr. Grubb's audiences is the narrative that accompanies each work, bringing the audience to a closer understanding of the music presented.

Mr. Grubb has been the director of Music at Grace Lutheran Church in Modesto since 1971. He has served on the faculty of Modesto Junior College since 1976, where he teaches elements piano, music appreciation and a course on the musical growth and development of The Beatles. In addition to these courses, he also teaches harpsichord and heads the largest pipe organ program at the community college level in California. A recipient of a full tuition scholarship to Cal-State East Bay, from former MJC Music Department Chairman, Robert McKnight, he has studied organ with Dr. Robert Larson and Kenneth Mansfield, Jr. His studies abroad have included advanced master classes with the late Klass Bolt of the world renown St. Bavo Church in Haarlem Holland; Harald Vogel, Director of Organ Studies at the North German Organ Academy, Joan Lippincott, formerly of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, Paul Manz of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Luke in Chicago and Anthony Newman, formerly of the Julliard School of Music in New York City. He is an active member of
the Stanislaus Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and has served as Dean for that chapter.

Mr. Grubb lives in Modesto with his wife, Helen. They have three grown children.A man of many skills, Steven Grubb enjoys trap and black powder shooting, historical reenactments of the mountain man era and renaissance periods, cooking, camping, traveling abroad, wine-tasting and gardening.

Tickets for the concert are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students under 18. Tickets may be ordered by mail using the order form on this web site.
