St. James Concert Series

Picture of Sally Peters

Sally Peters, soprano, was born and raised in Massachusetts and attended music school studying opera at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. After moving to the west coast, she was actively involved in the Bay area both as a soloist and choral member of the Schola Cantorum under the direction of Royal Stanton. She, also, privately studied with Lewis Woodward in Modesto.

Locally, Sally has performed in several musicals at both the former CAR and Sierra Rep. theaters as well as continual yearly performances for the past 10 years at the Christmas Program which Kautz Winery presents. Sally is a member of the Singing Nuns AKA The Treble Makers. She has previously performed in the Red Church Concert Series and for 10 years entertained at the former Hemingway's Restaurant in Sonora.

Sally is married and retired from the County of Superintendent's Office in Sonora having worked for special education for 20+ years. She has two grown sons and enjoys traveling both in their family motor home and cruising the ocean waves! Aside from singing, her hobbies are gardening and reading a good book.

This May concert will be centered around the songs of the 40's, her very favorite decade of music with songs such as The White Cliffs of Dover, I'll be Seeing You, Sing, Sing, Sing, Blue Skies and other popular favorites of that era. She is hoping the Treble Makers will be joining her. Helen Kimsey Plowman will be the accompanist. This is a concert she has been looking forward to performing for several years.
