SIERRA MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Requirements Summary:

All music must be performed from memory.

Judging will be based upon tone, intonation, technique, rhythm, musical understanding, interpretation, musical effect, memory, stage presence and poise.

To qualify for a scholarship, a student must exhibit exceptional musicianship. In the event that the judges feel no applicant is worthy, no scholarship will be granted for that year.

The decision of the judges is final.

The amount of the scholarship will vary from year to year, depending upon monies available from the Music Scholarship Fund.

Applicants should prepare one Classical composition from the appropriate standard repertoire.

Applicants must provide own accompanist for competition, along with three additional copies of the music.

Applicants 10 to 14 years old should prepare a selection of not less than two (2) minutes in length.

Applicants 15- 20 years old should prepare a selection of not less than four (4) minutes in length.

Award recipients will be requested to perform at the Mar. 29, 2009 concert. Appropriate concert dress will be required.
